A set of 24 colourful illustrated cards. Pick a card at random each day of advent to find out how people from all around the world celebrate, bring some light and joy into their lives and make the most of the cold days and nights of winter.
Be inspired by other cultures; whether you carve giant radishes like in Mexico, bathe with citrus fruits like the Japanese or dance for hours wearing a monkey mask like the Guatemalan's, enjoy the vibrant and unique ways in which humans from all over the planet choose to come together and celebrate the darker months of the year.
Ruth Murray is an anthrolopologist, and have worked in the museum sector for over 15 years. She originally wrote a version of this advent calendar, last year when she had an 8 week old baby and we were entering a winter lockdown - she knew she needed to throw herself into a creative project and this is what happened.
Hannah was lucky enough to receive a handmade set from Ruth last year, which cheered her and her family through the bleak winter and was delighted when Ruth agreed that she could illustrate them and design them as a set of cards to share more widely!
The cards are A6 - postcard size, printed on recycled smooth stock with rounded corners
Pick a card at random each day and pop it on your mantlepiece, or peg them each day to a ribbon- let these vibrant life-affirming customs into you life and home to bring a bit of joy to your home this winter.
